An example of a great free word processor would be Open Office. For communication with clients, Skype would be sufficient. Difference between Translation and Localization
For those wondering what the difference between Translation and Localization might be. Translation is simply the process of changing the language of a provided text into another language. One important point when choosing a translator for a project is to choose one who can translate into his/her native language. For example, I am German, so my native language is German. I will, therefore, choose projects which require translation into German.
Localization has a broader meaning than translation. If you localize a text you do not just simply change the language. You also have to make sure that the target text fits the target audience regarding culture, writing style, legal requirements, currency and time formats, etc.
This website is a comprehensive portfolio of localization tools and online services for Translation and Localization Professionals. We do not own these tools nor are we in any way affiliated with the authors of these tools or services. But we did test them. And only those tools and services are presented to you when they passed our tests. There are of course many other tools. If there is one that you can’t find on our website then it either did not pass our tests or we simply do not know it.
